Spring is arguably the best time to get outdoors and into the garden to enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine. But what are the best, easy-care varieties to plant in your spring garden?
A garden to delight the senses
Here at the Pineapple Farmhouse we love to plant lots of herbs and vegetable seedlings plus some vibrant, fragrant flowers to really liven up our outdoor space. As the weather warms up here in sunny Yeppoon, it’s nice to spend more time outside and see the garden come to life after the cooler winter months.
Gardens for every space
Since we’re renting a house at the moment, we are limited to a small raised garden bed and lots of pots, but that hasn’t stopped us getting out into the garden and planting some seasonal vegetables and flowers to enjoy and harvest.
Know your local climate
We live in a tropical/sub-tropical zone of Australia, and it’s important to have a basic understanding of your climate zone to ensure what you plant will grow and thrive. I found the About the Garden Website to be a good, simple guide.
Here are some great, easy-care varieties we have planted this spring:
- Oregano
- Cherry Tomatoes
- Cucumbers
- Lavender
- Marigolds
- Petunias
- Seaside Daisy
With a little care and attention and regular watering we will be enjoying fresh produce and beautiful blooms in no time at all.
