Chia seeds are the secret weapon behind this awesome jam making hack. They're said to be amongst the healthiest foods on the planet, high in nutrition, fibre, protein and antioxidants.
The only downside is that to this recipe doesn't preserve strawberries for a long shelf life like traditional jam making does, but since it can be whipped up in under 15 minutes, the time saving more then makes up for it!
How to make sugar-free microwave chia strawberry jam
Tools you may need
- Knife
- Chopping Board
- Microwave safe glass dish with lid
- Mixing spoon
- Measuring spoon - tablespoon
Ingredients
- 250 grams strawberries, stems removed and chopped
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Method
Roughly chop the strawberries and place them in a microwave safe dish.
Cover and cook for 3 - 4 minutes. Watch that the mixture doesn't boil over while cooking.
Add the chia seeds, lemon juice and honey, and stir well.
Stand for 5 minutes or until cooled. Mix again.
Serve immediately, or put in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
